Die Nominierten für die diesjährigen D.I.C.E. Awards sind bekannt. Horizon Zero Dawn ist in zehn Kategorien vertreten.

Wir befinden uns gerade mitten in der Award-Zeit: Nicht nur in der Filmbranche werden in den letzten Monaten des einen und den ersten des anderen Jahres die wichtigsten Preise verliehen (Golden Globes, Oscars), das gilt genauso für die Welt der Computer- und Videospiele. Auf die Game Awards und den Deutschen Entwicklerpreis im Dezember folgen nun die D.I.C.E. Awards. Das hat nichts mit dem schwedischen Entwickler DICE (Battlefield) zu tun, sondern ist eine Preisverleihung der Academy of Interactive Arts & Science, kurz AIAS. Seit 1998 kürt die Non-Profit-Organisation, in deren Aufsichtsrat namhafte Leute aus der Branche sitzen (etwa Blizzards Vizepräsident Frank Pearce und Shūhei Yoshida, Präsident von Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios) die besten Spiele eines jeden Jahres. Und diesmal hat vor allem Horizon Zero Dawn ganz große Chancen, ein paar Auszeichnungen zu erhalten.

Das PS4-exklusive Open-World-Spiel von Guerilla Games ist gleich zehn Mal nominiert, unter anderem in der Kategorie „Spiel des Jahres“. Kein anderer Titel kann da mithalten. Selbst The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, das bei sehr vielen Leuten das beste Spiel des Jahres 2017 sein dürfte, ist „nur“ in sechs Kategorien vertreten, könnte Horizon Zero Dawn aber die „Game of the Year“-Trophäe streitig machen. Die weiteren Nominierten in der Königskategorie sind das Actionspiel Cuphead, der Multiplayer-Titel Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds und das Jump and Run Super Mario Odyssey.

Doch nicht nur die ganz großen Namen sind bei den D.I.C.E. Awards im Rennen. Hier und da finden sich auch ein paar Außenseite, zum Beispiel das Adventure Night in the Woods, das zweifach nominiert ist („Outstanding Achievement in Story“ und „D.I.C.E. Sprite Award“). Das Puzzlespiel Gorogoa hat sogar die Chance auf fünf Auszeichnungen, unter anderem für sein Gamedesign und seine Game Direction, wo es in Konkurrenz zu Titeln wie Zelda und, wie könnte es auch anders sein, Horizon Zero Dawn steht.
